CCC13 - Music

Hi there! This week's Christmas Card Challenge is to use a musical element on your card. I started to use a musical stamp, but I wasn't really in the mood to color, so I remembered this fun musical paper from the Echo Park Holly Jolly line. I love the bright non-traditional colors in this line! 

I cut out the pink patterned paper shape with the Polka Dot Greetings Dienamics by MFT Stamps and stamped the sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas stamp set also by MFT. I embellished my card with some felt flowers, a sparkly flourish, and some Tiny Twinkles.

{Meljen's Designs} Challenge #98

Hi there!! Today I have a card to share for this week's Meljen's Designs Challenge #98. The challenge is to use buttons on your card. This was an easy challenge for me because I love to accent my bows with buttons! 

I have Spring fever! I've been browsing Pinterest for Spring and Easter decorating ideas, so being in the Springtime mood, I decided to make an Easter card for this challenge.

I used this sweet image by Meljen's Designs called Peter Bunny and colored him with Copic markers. The patterned paper is from one of my newest paper pads - Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks by My Mind's Eye...LOVE this line! The pastel colors make the perfect Easter card! 

I layered my image on some rectangle layers cut out with Nestabilities and accented it with Liquid Pearls. It looks like a drunk person applied my Liquid Pearls....they're all crooked! LOL! The scalloped strip was punched with the MFT Stamps Simply Scallops Border Dienamics. I did lots of stitching on this card and finished it off with a seam binding bow, and a button, of course!

CCC12 - Paisley!

Hi there! Happy Sunday! I hope you're having an enjoying weekend so far. Yesterday it rained ALL day here, and I enjoyed just staying in the house and working my way through some of the recipes I've been pinning on Pinterest! I made this Chili's Skillet Queso. I was excited since this is one of our favorite things from Chili's, and it didn't disappoint! It was super easy and delicious to make. Definitely check out that recipe! I'll be trying out some more recipes this week since I am off school all week long for Mardi Gras Break! I don't really do the whole Mardi Gras thing, but I sure am glad for a week's vacation!

Today we have a new challenge at Christmas Card Challenges! The challenge is to use paisley on your card. I dug through all of my patterned paper and couldn't find any Christmas-themed paisley papers, so I used the Perfectly Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder to add that look to my card. I paired it with some fun non-traditional papers from the My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas line. The stamp is from the Holly Jolly stamp and die set by There She Goes Clear Stamps. I love this set for quick Christmas cards...no coloring involved in this particular image! The scalloped strip was punched with the Simply Scallops Border Dienamics by MFT Stamps. I finished it off with some ribbon and twinkles. Oh, and the layout is a Card Patterns sketch from a few weeks back.

{Meljen's Designs} Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi there! Happy Valentine's Day! I have a Valentine's card to share with you today using this sweeeet image by Meljen's Designs! I used Little Miss Heart Mouse. She is one of the latest new releases from Meljen's Designs. Isn't she precious?! She was so much fun to color, too.

I colored her with Copic markers and accented the image panel with Liquid Pearls, some glitter, and some Tiny Twinkles.

This layout is Freshly Made Sketches #19, and the patterned paper is from the Echo Park Yours Truly collection. The scalloped border was cut with the MFT Simply Scallops Border Dienamics, and I did some stitching around the edge of the patterned paper.

I finished my card off with a black ribbon and some black pearls.

Valentine's Treat Box

Hi there! If you saw my blog yesterday, then you saw the cookies I made for my Valentine's treats to hand out at school. I had some crafty mojo going on over the weekend, so after I got done with the tags for my treat bags, I decided to try making one of these treat boxes from the tutorial I saw at Split Coast Stampers and fill it with some Hershey's chocolates. 

I thought this treat box was sooo cute, but I must be directionally challenged, but I just could not get it right...even with watching the video! Finally, after goofing up the scoring/cutting TWICE, I got it right on the third try! Third time's the charm right? :) 

I decorated my box with paper from the Echo Park Yours Truly collection. I stamped the image from the Buckets of Love stamp set by There She Goes Clear Stamps and colored it with Copic markers. I added lots of glitter to the hearts and accented the image panel with White Opal Liquid Pearls. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with Oval Nestabilities and popped it up with a Jody Booster. I love how it turned out! I will definitely be making these little boxes again in the future.

Valentine's Day Treat Tags

Hi there! Yes, I realize this is my second post today, but I just had to share these Valentine's treats that I just made with you!

Do you use Pinterest? I use it and *love* it. Among the many boards I've created on there, I've created one for each holiday to store crafty and gift-giving ideas. The only problem is that there are just way too many things I want to make! I guess I've got ideas stored away for the next five years! LOL! :)

I wanted to make some treats to hand out at school to my co-workers, and I finally settled on these cookies. I love to make Peanut Butter Cookies, so when I saw this idea on Pinterest to use a heart-shaped chocolate with them, I knew it was a perfect, quick, homemade treat for my Valentine's Day treats!

However, things never go as planned, right? I couldn't find heart-shaped chocolates anywhere in Walmart, and I didn't want to go anywhere else. Then I remembered an idea I saw on the Plain Chicken blog the other day - to dip Milano cookies in vanilla almond bark and then coat in sprinkles. So easy!

Super cute, right? Mine didn't turn out that well, but I'm hoping the handmade tag makes up for the messy look to the cookies! LOL :)

I packed these by putting them in cellophane bags and attaching a handmade tag to each one. I love to make tags. It's kinda like a miniature card! I used some tags from Taylored Expressions and embossed each one with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I added a bit of patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye Love Me collection and a scalloped strip to each one. I cut hearts out of red, white, and pink felt using the Hearts a Plenty Dienamics by MFT Stamps and hot-glued a few hearts to each tag. I finished them off by adding some pink ribbon and twine. I just love how these tags turned out! They were really simple to make, and there was no stamping or coloring involved! As much as I love to stamp, when you're mass-producing something, it's easiest to find a way that doesn't involve a lot of coloring.

I hope all my recipients love them as much as I loved making them!

Christmas Card Challenge #11

Hi there! This week's challenge at Christmas Card Challenges is a sketch challenge. You can see the sketch over at the CCC blog. I loved this sketch because it was a pretty simple one to follow, and while I do love to put a lot of layers and detail into my cards, sometimes I just feel like going the simple route! 

I inked up this sweet little MFT Stamps Pure Innocence girl - Holly Girl - because sadly, she hadn't seen any ink yet! I had to fix that! I colored her with Copic markers and paper-pieced her dress with some of the same papers I used on my card - the Echo Park Season's Greetings collection. I love those Christmas papers! I even added a pearl to each of her shoes. 

I kept this card pretty simple and just finished it off with some pearls and a bow. That's it!

Buckets of Love

Hi there! Happy Saturday! Wow, am I ever glad it is the weekend! I had a kinda-rough week. I'm sure you've saw me mention on here before that I've been sick for a long time - since September to be exact. I've been coughing, wheezing, short of breath, fatigued, etc., ever since. I was in the hospital over Thanksgiving, and I was diagnosed with asthma. It's been a long road, and I never have really gotten well. I continue to get worse. On Tuesday, I got too hot at school and had an asthma attack in class. I scared all my students so bad! Andrew took me to the emergency room, and then I went and saw my doctor the next day. Now, I have to go next week to see an allergy doctor. I'm actually looking forward to that because I am ready to find out what is causing all of my problems! 

Needless to say, I don't feel like making cards as much as I want to, but I did get a chance to make this Valentine's card this week.

I used the Echo Park Yours Truly paper collection and the Buckets of Love stamp set by There She Goes Clear Stamps. This layout is Freshly Made Sketches #21. 

I colored my image with Copic markers and added lots of glitter! Love that bucket of sparkly hearts! The pink background was embossed with the Seeings Spots embossing folder - my favorite embossing folder! I used the MFT Simply Scallops Border Dienamics to cut the scalloped strip. I also added a blingy circle to my image panel. I bought some blingy circles and squares at Michael's sometime last summer, and I've been hoarding them in my bling drawer and never used them! I tend to buy things, throw them in a drawer, and forget about them. You do that, too, right? When I noticed Jodi Collins use them on her cards, it reminded me that I had them, so I dug to the bottom of my bling drawer and found them! I popped one on this card, and I love that bit of extra sparkle! 

I added a ribbon to my card to finish it off, and that's it! Since I have some ribbon on my card, I am also entering this card in this week's Ribbon Carousel Challenge, which is Anything Goes. Have a great weekend!! I'm just going to be lazy today and stay inside and work on some Valentine's projects for my friends at work!

{Meljen's Designs} XOXO Stitches

Hi there!!

I have a Valentine's card to share with you today. I've been having fun making lots of Valentines lately! I decided to keep this one simple, and I wanted to go with lots of white. I used the XOXO Stitches image by Meljen's Designs and colored it with Copic markers. I accented it with some glitter and Tiny Twinkles. 

I cut out my image with the MFT Clearly Sentimental Label Dienamics and layered it on the red cardstock panel that was cut out with the Taylored Expressions Take Note Die 3. I love that layered look.

I embossed the white background with the Seeing Spots embossing folder and finished it off with some cute XOXO ribbon that I picked up at Hobby Lobby and a button and twine.

Christmas Card Challenge #10

Good morning! Today's Christmas Card Challenge #10 is to create a background for your card. I used my Snowflakes embossing folder to create a background and didn't use a bit of patterned paper...shocker, right?!

The image is from Buckets of Love Holiday Additions by There She Goes, and I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic markers. I accented it with White Opal Liquid Pearls just to give it a little pop. 

I added a strip of scallops and finished it off with three white brads. This was a super simple Christmas card!

TSG - Just Because

Hi there!! I had some stampy time today, so I made a card for this week's There She Goes Challenge - TSG141. I used Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #151 for the layout.

I don't normally buy flower stamp sets because I don't think I can color them very well. My Copic skills are severely lacking. I decided that if I don't practice, then I'll never learn, so I got this Bloom set by TSG. It's a beautiful set perfect for many different occasions. Coloring this image was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I love how my card turned out!

I did some sponging around the edges of my image and accented a few of the flowers with pearls. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with Circle Nestabilities and did some more sponging around it. I popped it up with foam tape on top of the ribbon.

The papers are from the My Mind's Eye Madison Avenue collection. I love this beautiful pink and brown color combo! I finished my card off with a few more pearls in the bottom corner.

It's New Release Day at Meljen's Designs!

Hi there!! If you didn't already know, Meljen's Designs now does monthly instead of weekly releases. We have been anxiously awaiting our first montly release, and here it is!!   These adorable digi stamps are available today!

{Meljen's Designs} Teapot Tags

Hi there!! I am popping in today to show you some quick little tags I made using a Meljen's Designs image - Fancy Little Teapot. I love this teapot image. It's one of my favorites!

My aunt asked me to make some tags for a church project. She wanted to attach them to teabags, and I knew that this Meljen's image would be perfect for the tags. I cut out the tags with my Cricut and embossed each one with the Victoria embossing folder. I added a bit of patterned paper to the tag as well. The image was colored with Copic markers, cut out with Nestabilities, and popped up with Jody Boosters. A little bit of ribbon finished them off! I think they turned out cute. Super simple, too!
